If your company is leaning into AI and giving everyone a chance to become a "Citizen Developer", remember, that takes more than an approved LLM account and a 55-gallon drum full of tokens.

If you truly want people to contribute, they'll need the right tools to go with it. A source control account (GitHub or otherwise), proper access, guardrails, and support are just a few of the things that can get overlooked, and those costs add up fast.

Before you run headlong into this brave new world, stop and plan. Make sure your citizen developers are fully equipped for success, not just handed a login and wished good luck.
